VIPs including members of the Dutch royal family, members of the Norwegian royal family, former Secretary-General of the United Nations Kofi Annan and former South African Archbishop of Cape Town Desmond Tutu attended a memorial service for Dutch Prince Johan Friso on Saturday, November 2, 2013. The ceremony was held in the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam, the Netherlands where the prince controversially married Mabel Wisse Smit in April 2004.
Members of the Dutch royal family in attendance included King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and Princess Beatrix. Members of the Norwegian royal family in attendance included Crown Prince Haakon, Princess Märtha Louise and Ari Behn.
Prince Friso died on August 12 at age 44 after a skiing accident in Austria back in 2012.
