Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, spent the day around Kensington at three different engagements. Her day started at Family Friends, a voluntary organisation providing befriending and mentoring services to families in deprived areas of the borough. After learning about the organization and meeting some of the trained volunteers and family, including one very shy toddler, she moved on to formally opened Kensington Aldridge Academy. Kate’s activities included meeting governors, staff and students, touring the new building, watching part of a lesson, watching a dance performance in the school’s theatre, and unveiling a plaque. In her final stop of the day, the Duchess opened Kensington Leisure Centre, a new development which replaces the former building where Princes William and Harry had swimming lessons at school.
